1917 – World War I
As the cabinet met today with President Wilson for the last time before the assembling of Congress Monday, the consensus of opinion was that the United States was about to actively enter into war with Germany. President Wilson now has before him, recommendations of his cabinet advisers and in a general way has secured the sentiment of the country.
Television stars Nanette Fabray and Carl Reiner arrived for a visit in the Alamo City. Miss Fabray and Reiner are to attend a Thursday luncheon at the Menger hotel to help launch a fund drive for the Santa Rosa hospital’s new children’s wing.
The Dallas Times Herald said today that a San Antonio group has reached satisfactory terms for purchase of the Dallas Chaparrals of the American Basketball Association. The newspaper said the sale price is around $1 million and is expected to be announced over the weekend if the ABA approves.
