May 12 in San Antonio history…

The Hearst Corporation buys the San Antonio Light newspaper.

Twelve South Texans, including two San Antonians, were reported killed in action; 25 others, including seven San Antonians, wounded; one, missing; and one, liberated from a German prisoner-of-war camp, in an army-navy casualty list released yesterday evening and printed in today’s newspaper.

The $100,000, 3.2 mile “Brackenridge Eagle” railroad track began carrying its first passengers.
