February 3 in San Antonio history…

1927
Two Brooks Field pilots this morning parachuted safely to a Bexar County field after their plane went out of control. This was the first emergency “jump” at the primary flying school.

1957
The San Antonio Light reports that ground has been broken for a long one-story building at the Lone Star Brewery to house the world-famous Buckhorn Saloon collection.  Harry Jersig recently announced that the brewery had purchased the collection from the children of the founder, Albert Friedrich.  When the building is completed, the entire collection will be transplanted from its present site on W. Houston St. at Flores.

1968
Hemisfair Arena holds its grand opening with a performance by the Harlem Globetrotters.
