World War I – 1915
The French newspaper Le Temps reports that the country may be suffering from a match shortage soon.  The wood of the matches was  formerly imported from Russia but is now sought from Japan and Indochina. The stock of matches imported from the United States has been exhausted.  Demand for matches has increased from 48 billion to 60 billion per year since the war began.

The Brackenridge Park skyride was opened to the public.

Wonderland Mall reopens as Crossroads Mall.
