World War I – 1915
A dispatch from Petrograd announces that the Czar has freed all political prisoners, which are estimated at over 100,000.

1954
The Los Angeles Rams play an exhibition game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Alamo Stadium.  Philadephia wins, 24-21.

1964
Senate candidate George H. W. Bush comes to San Antonio to open his Bexar County campaign headquarters at 101 W. Travis, attend a luncheon with key financial backers, speak at a campaign rally at McCreeless Shopping City and be the guest at a cocktail dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Catto, Jr.

1986
North Star Mall officials unveiled the partially completed new wing that will feature 45 retail stores including Pat Magee’s, Florsheim Shoes, Foot Locker, Gadzooks, Lane Bryant, and Marshall Field’s department store.  The addition will be completed on Oct. 31 and will eventually bring the square footage of North Star Mall to 1.2 million square feet.
