September 2 in San Antonio history…

1955
The first Negro students registered in the San Antonio Independent School District’s previously all-white schools with absolutely no racial flareups.

1957
An early-morning truck crash caused a half-hour utility blackout in a 5-block area in the neighborhood of the 1800 block of S. Presa today.  The driver was blinded by the lights of an oncoming car and lost control of his half-ton pickup.  It sheared through a utility pole, grazed three palm trees and came to rest against the El Rancho restaurant at 1803 S. Presa, after breaking a railing.

1975
Classes begin for the first time at the brand new 1604 campus of UTSA.
