San Antonio Public Library Hosts Of the Self Photo Exhibition

OF THE SELF_TVSA Announcement _8_10_15
SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 31, 2015) — Of the Self is a city-wide exhibition showcasing a group of four artists, all working with either their own portrait or portraits of others, to establish a form of identity. Whether it is to convey the physical and emotional scars left behind in the aftermath of a cancer diagnosis, or to study the ancestry and identity of people, these artists all share the need to further investigate the traditional self-portraiture in a contemporary fashion. Participating artists include Chris Castillo, Stephanie Torres, Joe Harjo and Jenelle Esparza. The exhibition is curated by Julie Ledet.

Photos will be on display at the following branch libraries through September 26th:

Chris Castillo – Cortez Branch Library (2803 Hunter Blvd., 78224)

Stephanie Torres- Bazan Branch Library (2200 W. Commerce St., 78207)

Joe Harjo-  Igo Branch Library (13330 Kyle Seale Pkwy, 78249)

Jenelle Esparza – Pan American Branch Library (1122 W. Pyron, 78221)

This series is supported by the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library. For more information about the exhibition, contact Sandra Griffin at sandra.griffin@sanantonio.gov or call 210-207-9230.
