SAN ANTONIO (August 19, 2015) — As students head back to school,  the San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) wants to remind them of the importance of including a Library card on their back to school supply list.

There are a number of resources for students, parents and teachers that are available in any of the 28 library locations and online at mysapl.org:

  • Live Homework Help is an online program that links students to qualified, background-checked tutors for live real-time coaching sessions. The service offers access to tutors in math, science, social studies, and English, for grade levels from fourth grade to introductory college courses, and in both English and Spanish. Mobile formats allow users to access Live Homework Help from a smartphone or iPad.  Live Homework Help is available at no charge to any resident of Bexar County, with a SAPL Library Card, from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
  • Learning Express Library offers study and test prep guides to help students prepare for important tests like the PSAT, SAT and ACT; get extra help with assignments; and boost their skills in important subjects.
  • Our dedicated Children’s and Teens eReading Rooms provide a virtual environment for children and teens to browse within the SAPL digital library. The Children’s eReading Room is customized to display only juvenile content, and is cataloged by reading level and other reading metrics to help parents and teachers select titles to aid in literacy campaigns.  The Teens eReading Room is customized to display only young adult content. All titles can be sampled prior to borrowing or placing a hold and browsing can be done by subject, reading level or interest level.

“I encourage all local students and their families to take advantage of the vast resources San Antonio Public Library has available to the community,” said Ramiro Salazar, Library Director. “The Library provides resources to enrich educational endeavors at every stage, and all it takes is a San Antonio Public Library card.” Free SAPL library cards can be obtained by visiting any of the 28 library locations. Visit mysapl.org or download the mysapl app for Apple of Android phones to find the closest location to you. For more information, call 210-207-2500.
