Learn Centers at Carver and Westfall Branch Libraries changing operating hours

SAN ANTONIO (July 31, 2015) — Beginning  Saturday, August 1, Learn at SAPL centers at Carver and Westfall Branch Libraries will begin offering new service hours with the goal of serving more users. Based on use statistics for those locations, and the types of learners they’ve each been serving, changing the operating hours of the two centers will allow staff to reach a broader learning audience.

The new hours of service will be:

Carver Branch Library (3350 E. Commerce St., 78220): M/W/F- 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., T/Th. – Noon – 8 p.m.

Westfall Branch Library (6111 Rosedale Ct., 78201): Wednesdays Noon -8, Tues/Th./F/Sat.- 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Learn at SAPL is an adult basic education program partnership with the San Antonio Department of Human Services. The San Antonio Public Library has partnered with the Department of Human Services to determine and address the gaps in adult basic education that exist in our community.  The Learn at SAPL centers are designed for adults who are seeking to learn English, improve job skills, or earn a GED®. Classes and one-on-one assistance help adult learners improve basic reading, writing, speaking and life skills. The centers connect learners to adult education specialists and social service case managers to find them the help they need to succeed.

Learn at SAPL takes a whole-person approach to adult education, and aims to provide the help adults need to tackle the obstacles of pursuing continuing education- whether it be financial assistance, child care, language barriers, etc. For more information about Learn at SAPL, contact Dianna Morganti at  Dianna.Morganti@sanantonio.gov or call 210-207-2500.
