World War I – 1915
Russian forces stage a general retreat after three days of fighting German forces under Gen. August von Mackensen in Poland. Von Mackensen’s army takes the city of Krasnostav.

1968
Municipal Auditorium features the psychedelic sounds of Vanilla Fudge and Canned Heat (right).

1970
“The Great (Little) Train Robbery:” Passengers aboard Old No. 99 , Brackenridge Park’s miniature train, are robbed of their valuables by two soldiers from Ft. Sam Houston. Riders initially think it is a joke – until they see the guns are real. Both robbers are caught and sentenced to prison terms of 20 and 10 years, respectively.
As of 2015, this is the last train robbery in San Antonio.

1973
Recent rains have pushed the level of the Edwards Aquifer to 686.83 feet, an all-time high.  The old record of 685.54 was set on July 26, 1935.  “We have enough water in the aquifer to see us through the rest of the year with no problem,” said a City Water Board spokesman.   (The current record of 703.3 feet was set on June 14, 1992)
