On this day in 1915, the German press publishes an official statement from the country’s war command addressing the German use of poison gas at the start of the Second Battle of Ypres two months earlier.

1997
The Spurs select Tim Duncan, a 6′ 11″ forward from Wake Forest University, with the #1 pick in the NBA Draft.

1998
Christie’s , the longtime San Antonio seafood restaurant that first opened its doors in 1942, closes for good.

    -I’d forgotten about that restaurant. I remember going there with my parents as a kid. They had an aquarium with a huge fish in it. Thanks for writing this blog and bringing back great memories!
