The state-mandated speed limit of 25 miles per hour, set in 1917,  is raised to 35 miles per hour today.

The “Greater” Majestic Theater opens its doors offering “The Singing Brakeman” Jimmie Rodgers on stage along with the Movietone Follies of 1929 (right).

1968
The $365,000 McFarlin diamond, a 49.73 carat emerald-cut canary diamond, is stolen from the Witte Museum in broad daylight.  The thief is eventually apprehended but the diamond has never been recovered.  Unfortunately, the diamond was only insured for $200,000.
[This diamond is estimated to be worth $2.45 million today.]
