  1. Nov. 10, 1923
Actress and former Ziegfeld Girl, Martha Mansfield, makes an appearance at the Empire Theatre. She is in San Antonio filming “The Warrens of Virginia” in Brackenridge Park.

And as posted in earlier Nov. 10th post’s.
Tragically, she would not live to complete it.
She had just finished shooting a scene, dressed in full 1860s costume, when a crew member lit a cigarette and carelessly tossed the match in her direction. Mansfield’s hoop skirt caught fire, and despite the frantic efforts of co-star Wilfred Lytell to extinguish the flames, the actress was horribly burned. She died the following day. Mansfield was 24.

    • Correct. She was in San Antonio filming and made an appearance at the Empire Theater. Her death was not until Nov. 30, 1923, however.
