Trucks will be allowed to park free of charge from 7 a. m. to 10 a. m. Thursday, the first day on which the parking meters will be in operation, Chief of Police Owen W. Kilday announced today. “This privilege has been granted as an experiment,” Kilday said. However, after 10 a. m. the trucks will have to use the one parking space in each block allotted to trucks, and if it is occupied, will have to park in the regular lanes and pay as other cars. “There will be positively no double parking allowed,” the chief said,” once the meters are in. Owners and drivers of vehicles with commercial licenses seem to have the idea that that license entitles them to double park or to park anywhere they please and at any time”. There is no city ordinance to this effect.
