1917
The police department is preparing to wage war on stray dogs.  Officers have been told to abide by provisions of a city ordinance allowing them to kill any dog found roaming the streets, whether it wears a license tag or not.

1934
James V. Allred, 34-year-old candidate for governor of Texas, visited San Antonio today to confer with campaign workers.

1997
The same day as the Jarrell F5 tornado, wind gusts of 55 mph are recorded at the airport and a gust of 122 mph is observed at Kelly AFB.
