San Antonio Public Library Commemorates Dr. King
As we near the holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., next Monday, let us take a little time to reflect on his legacy, the causes he championed and those who marched with him in the struggle for civil rights.
The San Antonio Public Library will celebrate Dr. King’s life through the month of January with various programs at several branches that showcase who he was and his efforts to bring equal rights and dignity to all Americans, regardless of color.
In fact, you can visit any branch today and find specially designated areas of books and other media about Dr. King, his work and the turbulent time inAmericathat was the civil rights struggle of the 1960’s.
So as we prepare to walk the MLK, Jr., Commemorative March on Monday morning and we watch all of the television programming dedicated to his story, let us also take some time to reflect on the significance of this great American and remember that his story is our story.
Be sure to look for the San Antonio Public Library in the MLK, Jr., Commemorative March on Monday, January 16 as well as at Pittman-SullivanPark. Visit www.mysapl.org to find out what the Central Library and your local branch are doing to commemorate.
