1886
The Mexican Pastores, or representations of the nativity of Christ, have commenced across the San Pedro. This religious rite is particularly interesting and novel to strangers.

1916
Two motorcycle policemen have constituted themselves a committee to urge the city commission to establish an aeroplane squad in the police department. After taking test flights up to 1,000 feet, they said flying was the greatest sport in the world.

1935
The federal WPA [Works Progress Administration] has approved $2,429,000 in grants which will be used to finance work on beautification of the San Antonio River and work on Elmendorf and Woodlawn lakes.
