1879
City Council passes an ordinance requiring  “all vehicles used for public hire to have affixed to them a metal plate with a license number and the number of horses required to pull the vehicle.”

1936
Texas drivers, for the first time in history today, were required to have a license for operating a motor vehicle.

1938
Mayor Quin presents the key to the city to Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, on the eve of their movie premiere at the Majestic Theater.  The show started at 9 a.m. on Saturday and tickets were 20 cents.
