1867
George Wilkins Kendall, Mexican War correspondent, editor of theNew Orleans Picayune, sheep rancher and namesake of Kendall County, dies in Boerne.

1889
It is today decided to build the Southwestern Lunatic Asylum in Bexar County.  (It would open as the Southestern Insane Asylum in 1892 and is now known as the San Antonio State Hospital.)

1936
San Antonio had another college added to its list with the acceptance of Westmoorland as a senior college.
