1961
Texas, rich in natural resources, had gone 125 without a sales tax, but finally joined 36 sisters states that have had the levy for up to 25 years or more.

1985
San Antonio merchants were happy as the 24-year old Texas Blue Laws were repealed today.  However, San Antonio drivers were annoyed as a mandatory seat belt law took effect.

1986
The legal drinking age in Texas is raised from 19 to 21, resulting in the layoffs of 70 workers at the Lone Star Brewery and 25 workers at the Pearl Brewing Company.
