St. Mary’s Institute (now University) is founded near San Fernando with 12 male students.
1935
With Bexar County going wet by a 6-to-1 majority, the largest in the state, Texas voters came out strongly for a constitutional amendment repealing prohibition.
1983
Metallica makes their first appearance in San Antonio, opening for Raven at Daddy’s nightclub.
