1906
The school board has ruled that starting this fall, the high school course will be lengthened from three to four years.  The additional time is considered necessary to master the difficult courses.

1915
The city dumped carloads of sand on the banks of the San Antonio River near Guenther and Constance, preparatory to opening another “beach” for swimmers.

1960
Ground is broken for the $4,000,000 175-bed addition to the Baptist Memorial Hospital downtown with a 20-foot shovel manned by 20 people representing all hospital departments.
